FiberTron 10 is a weight loss capsule that is marketed as being a “maximum strength” product to help to decrease fat levels on the body. It is one of many diet pills currently on the market that advertise as being the most effective for losing weight.
Ten Pills a Day
A bottle of 225 capsules of FiberTron 10 retails for $49.95 at the time of this review. The directions for taking this pill say that you should be consuming a tremendous ten pills every single day (twice per day, five at a time). This means that one bottle contains only enough capsules for 22 and a half days.
For this reason, the cost of these pills is significantly higher than the average competition with similar ingredients, which cost just slightly less than one bottle of this product, but for an entire month’s supply. One benefit to using this product, though, is that there is a 100 percent money back guarantee offered for this product as long as it is ordered through the official website.
FiberTron 10 Ingredients
There are only two primary ingredients in the FiberTron 10 formula:
- Plantago ovata
These two ingredients are said, by the manufacturer, to work to help block fat from being absorbed into the body and stored. They can also supposedly suppress the appetite, so that the dieter is inclined to consume fewer calories every day.
A lot of Information, But Lack of Evidence
According to the official website, this product is very powerful, but also quite “safe”. The site provides a detailed explanation of how they claim the ingredients work in the formula to help to promote weight loss, with the use of a chart to support the description.
The site states that the two ingredients in FiberTron 10 work together to absorb the fat that has been processed by the body and send it through the intestinal tract to be expelled as waste, instead of being absorbed into the body. As the ingredients and the fat take up a lot of space, it makes the stomach feel as though it is fuller for a longer period of time and therefore discourages the hunger sensation from returning as quickly.
The website also features an FAQ page that is handy for answering a number of common questions that consumers may have. The fact that there are only two active ingredients in this formula improve the possibility that adequate levels of each ingredient has been added to ensure that they actually do what they say they will. The website features a 1-800 number for added customer support.
The drawbacks of this product is that it can lead to bloating and excessive gas. Additionally, there are no before and after pictures of FiberTron 10 users to illustrate its effects and the manufacturer of this product makes no specific recommendations to change diet or exercise habits. Furthermore, no clinical evidence was provided to back up the claims that were made about this OTC diet pill and its ingredients.
Update – August 2020
FiberTron 10 is no longer around. This product cannot be purchased and has most likely been discontinued. This is likely for the best considering the number of pills that had to be consumed in a day and the high costs associated with prolonged use of this diet pill.
Beware Glucomannan and Plantago Ovata Weight loss Claims
FiberTron 10 may cease to exist today, but there are still plenty of nonprescription weight management aids that contain glucomannan and plantago ovata, also known as Psyllium Husk.
It is important that you know neither of these ingredients have ever been scientifically proven effective for weight loss. There has been some research that suggests taking glucomannan daily may help to promote satiety and block some calories from being absorbed in the body. However, other research found that after glucomannan supplements were administered for 8 weeks, the fiber substance did not promote weight loss nor did it significantly alter body composition, lipid or glucose parameters or result in feelings of hunger/fullness.
As for psyllium husk, this similar gel-like fiber has also yielded mixed results in studies, with some research suggesting that it might have an effect on appetite and weight and others finding that there were no effects at all. What’s more, psyllium is sometimes used to soften stool and as a laxative and may trigger certain side effects, such as:Gas
- Stomach pain
Consult with Your Doctor
Even though glucomannan and plantago ovata are generally well tolerated by healthy adults, due to the limited scientific information regarding their efficacy for appetite suppression, calorie blocking and weight loss, it would be in your best interest to either avoid pills that contain these substances, like the defunct FiberTron 10, or consult with your healthcare provider first. It is important to make sure that both these ingredients and the daily dosage you intend to consume are a safe and smart choice for your weight management strategy.
