GNC Total Lean Burn 60 ReviewGNC Total Lean Burn 60 is a dietary supplement from GNC that claims to be a “clinically proven thermogenic” that increases calorie burning by up to 60%. It also supposedly helps to enhance metabolism, boost energy levels and burn calories.

At the time that this GNC Total Lean Burn 60 review was created, the ingredients in the formula included: Guarana Seed Extract, Black Tea Leaves Extract, MegaNatural Grape Skin & Seed extract, Ginger Root Extract, MegaNatural Cold Grape Seed Extract, Dill Weed Extract.

The suggested use is to take 2 tablets 30-60 minutes before beginning exercise. On non-workout days take 2 tablets with water before breakfast. Users are cautioned not to take this product close to bedtime. Also, this supplement is meant to be used in combination with a healthy diet and exercise program.

The reason why users are cautioned not to take this diet pill too close to bedtime is that it contains guarana. More specifically, it contains 495 mg of guarana per 1 serving (2 tablets). Guarana has high concentrations of caffeine and can function as a stimulant, which means it may produce adverse stimulant effects, such as jitters, anxiety and disrupting sleep, among other unwanted side effects.

That being said, guarana has not undergone extensive study. Moreover, preliminary studies have not found this substance to be helpful for improving cognitive ability or mood. Moreover, even though it is commonly used to boost athletic or sexual performance, there is no evidence that it is beneficial for boosting either of these performances.

This lack of evidence brings to attention the claim that GNC has made that its Total Lean Burn 60 product is a clinically proven thermogenic formula. There is nothing clinically proven about this product. Yes, its ingredients have been scientifically studied, but simply because an ingredient is studied doesn’t make it proven.

The only weak evidence the manufacture shares to support its claims is that, in a study, a group of participants took GNC Total Lean Burn 60 before exercising on a treadmill on one occasion, while on a second occasion they took a placebo. The amount of calories reportedly burned during the first 60 minutes of post-exercise was measured and participants burned up to 60% more calories while on this blend compared to when they were on the placebo.

This single study is not enough to prove the efficacy or safety of GNC Total Lean Burn 60. It is highly recommended that your first speak with your healthcare provider before taking this product.
