Phentramin-D is an over the counter (OTC) diet pill that is popular among both adult men and women who are interested in losing weight, but who are not candidates for prescription diet drugs like Phentermine.

This product, developed by Lazarus Labs, can provide support to those who would like assistance with their conventional dieting efforts, such as following a fitness-appropriate exercise regimen and a healthy calorie-controlled diet plan.

That said, have you ever wondered what it is that makes a diet pill so effective? It should come as no surprise that the answer can be found within the ingredients. Whether it contains herbs or chemicals, the substances that make up a weight management formula are ultimately what make it successful or not.

Therefore, if you are wondering why Phentramin-D diet pills work so well, you’ll learn what you want to know by simply investigating their scientifically studied ingredients.

The Benefits of Phentramin-D

If you are no stranger to this non-prescription weight management aid, you are likely already aware of the fact that Phentramin-D contains science-backed ingredients that research has found can help to increase energy and boost focus.

This means that its formula has been developed to help individuals in their dieting efforts to better achieve their goals. Among these benefits include:

  • Enhanced energy
  • Boosted metabolism
  • Increased mental focus
  • Appetite support

In essence, the formula supports efforts to commit to a long-term healthy calorie-conscious eating plan and a regular fitness-appropriate exercise program. However, to really understand why this formulation works so well and the support it can provide, you need to take a closer look at how the Phentramin-D ingredients work.

Science-Backed Ingredients

First and foremost, you need to understand that Phentramin-D weight loss pills do not exist. In other words, don’t expect that by taking this dietary supplement you will magically lose weight. Phentramin-D is not a weight loss pill or an obesity treatment. Instead, it has been developed to help support weight management and the healthy efforts a person adopts as part of their overall weight loss strategy.

As for its formula, Phentramin-D is composed of premium ingredients including:

  • 2-Phenylethylamine Hydrochloride (PEA)
  • Caffeine
  • Hordenine
  • Synephrine Hydrochloride

Each of these ingredients have been clinically studied. Research has found that the ingredients within this dietary supplement can help boost energy, increase focus, support a healthy metabolism and enhance alertness.

For instance, some studies suggest that caffeine offers many performance benefits, including reducing fatigue, increasing physical endurance, enhancing concentration and mental alertness. All of this can be useful for individuals engaging in conventional weight loss methods.

What to Remember Before Taking This Product

The recommended dosage for Phentramin-D is to take 1 pill with 8 ounces of water 20 minutes prior to breakfast and 1 pill with 8 ounces of water 20 minutes prior to lunch or in the early afternoon. Users are cautioned not to increase their dose or take this product too late in the afternoon or in the evening as it may cause sleeplessness and increase the risk of other stimulant-related side effects.

Phentramin-D diet pills are of the highest quality. However, it is important to keep in mind that this product does contain stimulants, as previously mentioned. Stimulant ingredients can cause jitters, insomnia, etc. in some people, especially those who are highly sensitive to caffeine, who ingest other caffeinate products while taking this dietary supplement, or who take these pills too close to bedtime.

Also, it is important for you to make sure that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients and/or to ensure that nothing will interact with any medication you may currently be taking. For this reason, it’s in your best interest to consult with your doctor before taking Phentramin-D, so you know that this product can provide you with the optimal dieting support you’re seeking.

How much does the average person lose on this? I have about 30 lbs I want to lose for my wedding in two months time and I am wondering if it’s really possible. I need something quick and easy lol!

    1. tootsie_roll

I don’t know about others but in one month I lost 18 pounds (I only had about 20 or so to lose). I watched what I ate very carefully and I went to the gym 4-5 x per week. I would say if you are motivated and stay on track then you should have no problem losing 30 pounds in two months.

    2. lemonaid

The better you eat and the more you exersize the more you will lose. That being said yes I do think it’s possible to lose 30 lbs in 2 months PhenD is a very good appetite suppressant- it does what it says it will do.

It depends on the person, how heavy you are to start, and how good you are with your diet and exersize. Some people will lose 20-25lbs in a month whereas others may only lose 10lbs. Like I say it just depends on your situation.

Thanks for all the responses. Just wanted to stop back in and say I have lost 19 lbs in 5.5 weeks. I am getting close to my goal weight I think I will be just about there on my wedding day. Super excited I didn’t think this would be possible. People are shocked at the weight I have lost so far. Yes it works!

what are you eating? are you following a certain diet too or just relying on the pills?? are you working out too or no? thanks

          1. Carole

My wedding has come and gone and I looked the best I have looked in years. Only problem is since stopping the pills I have gained back 8 lbs!! I think I have been a little lax about my eating since the wedding is over. Time to get back on that horse so to speak.

@Catt- I was eating very healthy. Lots of protien i.e. grilled fish and chicken, lot of salads and veg. I did not work out much just yoga twice a week.

    4. Caryn

Yes you can!! I lost 18 lbs in one month alone. I ate less and worked out more and the weight fell off and I have kept it off since.

  2. A_Chin

I lost 18 lbs the first month and 10 lbs my second month. It takes away your appetite like crazy and gives you tones of energy to work out.

How long can you take this stuff for and what kind of side effects does it pose? I have a lot to lose and hope this is the answer to my prayers!

    1. matador

You can take it as long as you want but it might start wearing off after a while. That is what happened to me. I had to go on a break after about 3 months for a month then went on it for another 3 months.

    2. CW

I have been taking it for two months and am down 22 lbs total. I have to shed 50 lbs so I am almost half way there. Since I have lost this weight, my hip pain is a lot less. The doctor told me to lose even 15 lbs and it would help my pain, and he was right it’s already helping.

  4. kutty

You can take it for months and months if you need to. I don’t think there is a “time limit” of how long you can take it. Basically take it as long as needed. For me, the only real side effect that I would consider negative is a dry mouth but it’s not too bad. Good luck these do work!

    1. daffodil

Yes you can have some drinks while taking it no problem. I do it. I try to make lighter drinks though like white wine spritzers, light beer etc.

    2. meghan

Yes you can drink just be aware that drinking alcohol ads a lot to your daily calorie intake and will diminish your efforts to lose weight. I would very much limit how much you drink if you want to see good weight loss results on the scale.

    3. pp

I drink wine every night and I am still losing weight with this medication. It takes away the cravings for all the junk. If you just eat whole, real foods in moderation, you will not have a problem with weight.

This little pill is changing my life. I have gone from 224 lbs and a size 20 to 158 and a size 8. It only took 3 months. I tried everthing to lose weight in the past and I just couldn’t. I found phentramin D while researching phentermine and adipex and decided I had nothing to lose so I gave it a try. I was a bit skeptical but it did exactly what it said it would do.Very happy with this product and the result. Thank you!

  6. jhW76

I have been exercising 4 days per week and doing the south beach diet while taking phentramin D and I have lost 23 lbs in 4.5 weeks. I could not be happier with this result! I am more then halfway to my goal weight of 145 lbs. (I am 5 ft 8)

  7. michelle

This supplement really kick started my weight loss. The big thing is you must realize it is not your SOLUTION it is an AID to help you get your weight off along with eating healthy and some sort of exersize. It really is amazing.

  8. claire w

This worked great for the fist two weeks I dropped 14 lbs but now I am staying about the same. Could it have worn off? I would like to lose another 10 lbs.

    1. angie81

It should not have worn off quite yet. I have heard it can lose it’s potency after a few months but not 2 weeks. Keep taking it your body is probably just being stubborn and wanting to hold on to it’s weight!

      1. JFlowers

Take a week off and then go back on it for another 2 weeks. Keep doing this for several weeks until you are at your goal (or are close to it!)

I am wondering if phen d is addicting at all? I don’t want anything that causes dependancies…

    1. Orange County Gal

I don’t feel addicted. It’s not like phentermine that will make you feel “speedy.” Just gives a good enery “boost” if that makes any sense at all.

    2. Tasha

For some people it can really boost the mood, and that feeling of well-being can be addicting. It just depends on the person.

  10. JFlowers

So far I am having great results with Phen D. I am losing weight and my overall well being is improved. I find I do feel the extra energy but not to the point of being uncomfortably jittery/shaky. I am much more able to control my eating which has resulted in a 15 lbs loss. I need to lose another 15 and I will be at my goal.

  11. rekless dreamer

I am taking phentramin D and while I don’t feel jittery at all I do get a slight headache later in the day. Does anyone else get this? Is it normal? Is there anything I can do to get rid of it? thx

    1. Carole

Eat a little something when you feel headachy your body is probably hungry even though you don’t feel it. Also drink a TONE of water all the time. Can’t stress this enough.

      1. rekless dreamer

Thanks the headaches are long gone and I have lost 21.5 lbs since I started a month and a half ago. I love this product it’s amazing!

  12. Evelyn

Down 18 lbs total! Limit your carbohyrdate intake, stick with non starchy vegetables such as spinach, cucumbers, cauliflower, tomotoes, green pepper, and eat a small amount of protein every day. Watch the sugar intake esp with fruit because it adds up.

  13. PJ Mathews

I lost nearly 60 lbs with Phentramin D. You can lose a lot of weight, but you have to be committed to eating healthy. I went for 2 walks every day, before breakfast and after supper. I also ate a very low calorie diet and drank only water. Stay away from sugary drinks and sodas. They are a killer.

  14. Linda

I started doing pilates 3 x a week and taking Phentramin D and I have gone from a size 14 to a size 10. (I am really tall so a size 10 is a really nice size for me.) This stuff works!

  15. marc86

If you find you are dead tired in the evening, can you take the afternoon dose a bit later? I find I am hungry at night and I have no trouble sleeping.

    1. jennie

You sound like me. I am good all day while I am so busy with work and running errands, but when I sit down at the end of the day I start thinking about food and eating. I myself have never had any issues with falling asleep on Phentramin D and I’ll even take a pill at a random time in the afternoon/evening to get me through a rough spot and it’s been fine. It totally helps me with my food cravings, but I know some others who in no way can take a pill in the later afternoon and then sleep well that night so it just depends. You sound like you will be fine though. Try it a couple times and see. It’s not going to hurt you.

  16. down 15 lbs in a month!

Well with a lot of hard work and determination (I have been cycling every day and drinking several litres of water a day) I have lost 15 lbs! I still have a ways to go (the goal is 45 total and to be able to wear single digit size) but the clothes are fitting loser and I am feeling better about myself. I no longer want to feel terrible every time I look in the mirror. I hope my BP will stay low so I can keep going like this.

  17. out of the 200s!

It’s been a very happy week. I am finally out of the 200’s! Today’s weigh in 199.8! I know it’s still basically 200, but I have not seen the 190’s in I don’t know how long. Years and years so psychologically this is huge for me. The last little while I have upped my daily dosage by just an extra half a pill every second day and but I think this is really making a difference. Another 50 or so lbs gone and I will be at my goal. Just wanted to share my good news 🙂

  18. lemonade :)

i am on month 3 of Phentramin D. the first month i lost 12 lbs, and the second month I lost 10 lbs. I finally cracked 199! I have started working out this month as I have the motivation, want to lost another 15 and will be VERY HAPPY

  19. portia

In two months I have lost 31 lbs with Phentramin D. I am eating chicken soup, vegetables and fruit every day and also walking as much as possible. I just had another weigh in yesterday and am down another 4 lbs. This product is fantastic, my goal is to get below 200 lbs and I really feel it’s making a huge difference.

  20. Jenny

How often are you all taking them? I have 35 mg and I’m only take one and a half a day… My dr. Told me to take it twice a day but I haven’t cause I’m scared to feel “speedy”
    Any advice?
